REP. JENKINS STATEMENT ON SENATE HEALTHCARE VOTE

July 28, 2017
Press Release
“Those who stood in the way of even bipartisan debate on this critical issue must explain why they protected the Obama administration’s failed legacy.”

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement after the Senate’s healthcare vote:

“I am deeply disappointed that the Senate failed to continue their work to repeal and replace Obamacare. The status quo simply isn’t acceptable. Since 2013, West Virginia has seen some of the highest premium increases in the country – 169 percent. Families have fewer choices and insurers are pulling out of the exchanges. In fact, we saw just this week how unsustainable Obamacare is financially when the Charleston Area Medical Center announced it would have to eliminate 300 jobs. This was our best opportunity to make real, meaningful reforms to our healthcare system, and those who stood in the way of even bipartisan debate on this critical issue must explain why they protected the Obama administration’s failed legacy.”
