REP. JENKINS: PRESIDENT CANNOT LIMIT OUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) issued the following statement today on President Obama’s executive actions on Second Amendment rights:
“President Obama is yet again using executive overreach to force his agenda on the American people – policies that have already been rejected by Congress. This announcement is another example of the president overstepping his constitutional authority and using executive actions to circumvent the people’s voices in Congress.
“West Virginians lawfully use firearms for sport, hunting and protection. This president does not believe firearms can be responsibly owned, sold and purchased – again we see that if President Obama does not like something, he will use executive actions to eliminate it.
“I am a proud, staunch supporter of the Second Amendment, and I will not stand idly by while the president strips away the rights of law-abiding citizens. I will fight this administration using the power of the purse to defund this executive action and the president’s continued executive overreach. I will not let this administration strip West Virginians of the rights guaranteed to us in the Constitution.”
