REP. JENKINS: NO TO PRESIDENT’S AMNESTY PLAN

January 14, 2015
Press Release
Votes yes on bill to block president’s executive action

WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) voted yes today on legislation to block President Obama’s recent executive actions on immigration.

The amendments addressing the president’s overreach on immigration were adopted during debate on H.R. 240, the Department of Homeland Security Appropriations Act. The bill, which would also fund DHS through Sept. 30, 2015, passed the U.S. House of Representatives today 236-191.

“This legislation sends a strong message to President Obama: The American public – and this Congress – will not tolerate his unilateral, go-it-alone approach on immigration. It is the constitutional responsibility of Congress, not the president, to write our nation’s laws. This bill provides funding to protect our homeland and secure our borders while ensuring that the president cannot move forward with his plans to offer skip-the-line passes to those who have entered our country illegally,” Rep. Jenkins said.
