REP. JENKINS HELPS SECURE HUD GRANT FOR HUNTINGTON-FAIRFIELD PROJECT
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) announced today that he has helped secure a U.S. Housing and Urban Development Administration grant for Huntington to help revitalize the Fairfield neighborhood.
The city will receive a grant of $350,000 to help implement the city’s Fairfield Choice Neighborhood Revitalization project.
In December, Rep. Jenkins spoke with HUD Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Housing Dominique Blom to express his strong support for the Huntington Housing Authority’s application for a HUD Development Choice Neighborhoods Planning and Action grant. He also contacted HUD Secretary Ben Carson to bring Huntington’s grant application to his attention.
“The Fairfield Choice Neighborhood Revitalization project is an important step forward for our community. After speaking with HUD leaders, I was confident this grant would be funded and that Huntington had made a strong case for this project. I congratulate the city for receiving this important grant and look forward to seeing these funds put to good use,” Rep. Jenkins said.
