REP. JENKINS HELPS PASS PAY RAISE FOR TROOPS, KEY DEFENSE SPENDING
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) has helped the U.S. House of Representatives pass legislation to provide a pay raise for our armed forces and critical funding for national security.
The John S. McCain National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2019, which passed the House 359-54, will give our men and women in uniform a much-deserved pay increase. It also provides vital funding to secure our national defense, strengthen our military readiness and defend against terrorism and extremist nations.
“This bill provides our military with the resources needed to complete its missions and protect our national security, as well as the highest pay raise for our troops in nine years. I am proud to support this bill and will continue to work to ensure that our armed forces have the support they need,” Rep. Jenkins said.
The bill also includes a key provision authorizing $137 million for the National Guard Counterdrug Program. The National Guard Counterdrug Program works with community, state and federal agencies to coordinate counterdrug and drug trafficking law enforcement efforts.
