REP. JENKINS HELPS PASS MAJOR DEFENSE LEGISLATION
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) has helped pass a major appropriations bill to fund our national defense and provide a pay raise for our troops.
H.R. 6157, the Fiscal Year 2019 Department of Defense Appropriations Act, passed the U.S. House of Representatives 359-49 on Thursday afternoon.
“Our brave men and women in uniform put their lives on the line so we can live in freedom. As a father of a Marine and a member of the House Appropriations Committee, I will always work to ensure that our armed forces have the support and equipment they need to complete their missions and protect our national security. This bill provides our military with much-needed resources, along with a pay raise to help our troops care for their families, and I am proud to support it,” Rep. Jenkins said.
The bill provides a 2.6 percent pay raise for our troops, along with vital funding to secure our national defense, strengthen our military readiness, and defend against terrorism and extremist nations. For more on the legislation, please click here.
