REP. JENKINS CONGRATULATES ART COMPETITION WINNER
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) announced today that Brooklynn Lilly of Mercer County is the Third Congressional District’s winner in the 2015 Congressional Art Competition – An Artistic Discovery.
Lilly’s mixed media work, Candle Tree, will be displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year. Lilly, 18, is the daughter of Tammie and Christopher Lilly of Ellison Ridge. She is a senior at Pikeview High School in Princeton.
Megan Matt, a sophomore at Huntington High School, was awarded second place for her photography piece, B&W Sunflower. Awards were presented as the West Virginia Culture Center earlier this month.
“The arts give students an outlet to express themselves, develop their voices, and explore their creativity. This competition gives young artists from across West Virginia and the nation a chance to display their works for thousands of visitors to the U.S. Capitol. I congratulate all of our participants for sharing their creations and am honored to display Brooklynn’s work in Washington,” Rep. Jenkins said.
