REP. JENKINS ANNOUNCES APPROPRIATIONS SUBCOMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS
WASHINGTON – U.S. Representative Evan Jenkins (R-W.Va.) announced today that he will serve on three House Appropriations Committee subcommittees during the 114th Congress:
- Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies
- Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies
- Legislative Branch
“I thank House Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers for selecting me for such an important slate of subcommittee assignments,” Rep. Jenkins said. “Each is significant and offers its own unique challenges and opportunities.
“Given the Obama administration’s unrelenting war on coal in West Virginia, serving on the Interior and Environment Subcommittee will allow me to fight for West Virginia’s working families and small businesses to protect them from this president’s regulatory overreach.
“The Commerce, Justice, and Science Subcommittee will offer me the opportunity to strengthen the fight against the drug crisis in southern West Virginia. I am also honored to have the opportunity to serve on the Legislative Branch Subcommittee, where we can show that balancing our budget begins in our own backyard.”
The Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Subcommittee oversees spending within the Interior Department and the Environmental Protection Agency, among other agencies.
The Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Subcommittee allocates funding for the Commerce Department, the Justice Department, NASA, the National Science Foundation, and several related independent agencies.
The Legislative Branch Subcommittee oversees congressional spending for the House of Representatives, the Architect of the Capitol, and the Library of Congress.
