Congressman Evan Jenkins

Representing the 3rd District of West Virginia

Immigration

Our immigration system is broken. Congressman Evan Jenkins has voted to secure our borders and make sure funding was there to work to stop those coming into this country illegally. Evan knows the first step in any immigration policy is to secure the borders and then to focus on reforming a broken system.

The congressman is particularly concerned about the rise in the number of sanctuary cities – cities that refuse to turn over arrested illegal immigrants to federal authorities. Evan voted to ban these sanctuary cities from having access to certain federal grants in the Homeland Security appropriations bill. Rep. Jenkins also cosponsored the CLEAR Act, which will stop taxpayer dollars going to sanctuary cities. Federal immigration laws exist to protect American citizens, and we should not reward cities that break these laws.
